“Fall in love with the house. Date the interest rate.”Meagan’s advice for nervous buyers
Meagan grew up deciding where the Christmas tree would go. Her dad worked for GM, so the family moved every few years from the time she was eight, and she turned it into a game: walk into the new house, find the tree’s spot. If a house didn’t have a good one, it didn’t make her list. Her parents, she’ll admit, did not share that standard.
Her mom sold real estate in Guthrie, but Meagan took the long way around to it. She earned a broadcast journalism degree from Wingate University in North Carolina and spent a few years as a sports journalist and editor. She was headed for ESPN out of college and got cold feet. Instead she ended up in a small Oklahoma town teaching high school English, which she did for fourteen years, coaching volleyball and theatre along the way with a couple of state championships to show for it, and picking up a master’s in education administration from OU in 2017.
Real estate never let go. She toured open houses on weekends, befriended every Realtor in town, and built her own house: everything except get licensed. In 2018, in the middle of the Oklahoma teacher walkout, she stopped waiting. She still teaches high school, and the two jobs turn out to ask for the same things: read the room, adapt fast, and show up on the days that go badly.
She’s at her best with first-time buyers, partly because she was one herself not long ago and remembers exactly how confusing and frightening it is. Her approach is to give it to you straight, even when the softer version would be easier to sell. She has a real weakness for new construction (everyone deserves a brand-new home at least once in their life, she’ll tell you) and an equal one for an old house with character.
Meagan’s been in Yukon three years, which she counts as an advantage. She knows what it is to land somewhere new and have to work it out, because she’s done it her whole life. Home is her partner Fred, a boisterous blended family, and two dogs named Flash and Gronk. Otherwise she’s watching OU softball and football, defending the Buccaneers, baking, working out, or finding a reason to get to the beach.
Ask what you can count on and the answer is plain: she’ll work her hardest for you.

It’s 20 to 25 minutes from everywhere, close to the airport, and you can get out of the city without leaving the city.
